Squash Ontario - The Organization

Working to provide "an environment in which the sport of squash can thrive, by offering quality services and innovative promotion to ensure that the needs of both the current and potential players are met".

Squash Ontario is the recognized governing body for the sport in the Province of Ontario. It is a non-profit organization, founded in 1976 and since that time, has grown into one of the most effective and respected squash associations in the world.

Policy decisions and the overall management of squash in Ontario are in the hands of your Board of Directors, numbering six. The Board is elected by the membership at the Annual and General Meeting and the President is then elected by the Board from among its numbers.

SQUASH ONTARIO COACHING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

 

Has a Coach Made a Difference to You?

 

The Coaching Achievement Award recognizes a squash coach who has consistently exhibited, espoused and taught the principles of respect, integrity, and fair play and is a person who portrays a positive role model both for the game of squash and for the coaching profession.

 

Your nominee must be fully certified under the coaching program and will have achieved at least a level 1 certification and is actively involved coaching squash and has been for a minimum of 3 years.  This person must also be a resident of Ontario for a minimum of 5 years.

 

We are looking for a coach who teaches and practices respect – for one’s opponent, for the official, for oneself and for the game; for a coach who has integrity – is honest, sincere and honourable in relationships with others; a coach who not only teaches but practices fair play – a coach who focuses on the positive aspects of sport; and finally, a coach who is a role model for coaching – one who generally projects an image favourable to squash and to the profession of coaching.

 

Outstanding contributions of the nominee may include but not be limited to:

  • junior programming
  • adult programming
  • women’s programming
  • innovative programming
  • local or regional contributions – for example, volunteering on regional executive committee
  • hosting of local, regional, provincial, national or international tournaments
  • mentoring
  • level of certification

 

 

Nominations for the Squash Ontario Coaching Achievement Award may be submitted by players, coaches, regional executive members, Squash Ontario Board members, parents and officials.  All nominations must be received in writing by 1 May 2008.
