DOUBLES
Doubles Classifications and Seedings
Doubles Seeding Procedure:
For all Provincial and sanctioned events, 25% of the draw
must be seeded.
In the event of fraction, round up to the higher number.
E.g. 25% of 17 = 4.25, therefore 5 teams will be seeded.
The format shall be:
1 plays 4 & 2 plays 3 in the semis and 5 plays 4, 6 plays 3,
7 plays 2, & 8 plays 1 in the quarters. These positions must
not be flipped. Any team that, at the discretion of the Doubles Committee, deserves to be placed, the position will be flipped and placed to meet either the 3rd or 4th seed in the round of 8.
DOUBLES CLASSIFICATIONS POLICY
"Once a player has won an Ontario C or B Doubles Championship they are not permitted to play in any C or B doubles event (with the exception of the Canadian Championships) for a period of two (2) years. Thereafter, if the player wishes to enter an Ontario doubles event at a lower level, they must petition Squash Ontario to reassess eligibility. The player must provide Squash Ontario with acceptable rationale for their request. Please note that the skill level of the player’s partner would not be an acceptable justification for playing down a level. If a tournament chair is in doubt as to skill level eligibility of a participant, he/she may refer the decision to Squash Ontario.
DOUBLES RANKING INFORMATION
Ranking points are accumulated over a 2 year continuous period for
all World, Canadian & US Nationals, Provincial and sanctioned
events . The team's total will be determined by adding the ranking
points obtained by each individual player on the team. For Mixed
Doubles events, only mixed doubles results will count for ranking
points. Similarly, for Men's and Women's Doubles events, only men's
or women's doubles results will count for ranking points.
Ranking points only determine seedings except in the case of a team
moving up to an older age category with solid results in major sanctioned
events or a player from the ISDA with an individual ranking in the
top 20. These results will we considered for seedings/placing at
the discretion of the Squash Ontario Doubles Committee only. Past
champions have no precedence over a team with more ranking points.
All Squash Ontario sanctioned events draws must be approved by the
Squash Ontario Doubles Committee prior to the posting of the draw
and commencement of play.
