Silver Circuit Events {1 day events}
The Harrow Junior Silver Circuit program is a series of one day events and has been created to provide an introduction to competition for young athletes currently participating in junior club programs or after school programs.
The format consists of pool draws: Maximum of 16 boys in each age division (under 11, under 13, under 15) and a maximum of 12 girls in each age division (under 11, under 13, under 15). Scoring in the pools draws is best of 3 and the results are not included in the Ontario Junior rankings. Scoring in the draws is best of 5 and results are counted in the Ontario Junior rankings.

TO ALL JUNIOR SQUASH PLAYERS, JUNIOR PARENTS AND JUNIOR SQUASH COACHES
The Game we Love
The game of squash is synonymous with sportsmanship and fair play. Playing fair means treating everyone with respect – your opponent – the officials – coaches – organizers, the squash facility and spectators.
To the players
- Be courteous on and off the court
- Adhere to all club rules and regulations
- Register and arrive on time for your match
- Be considerate during the 5 minute warm up period. Share practice equally with your opponent.
- Accept decisions with grace
- Win and lose gracefully and with humility – shake your opponent’s hand at the end of the match – whether you won or lost! And thank the referee.
- Know the rules
Believe in and practice the golden rule….treat your opponent in the same way you’d like to be treated. Keep this one simple rule in mind and you will always be looked upon as an athlete who Plays Fair!
To the parents
- Respect the decisions of the officials or referees
- Remember that your child participates in squash for his/her enjoyment and not your own
- Remember that children learn best by example and therefore applaud good plays and performances by both your child and his/her opponent
- Encourage your child to play within the rules, to respect opponents and to resolve conflict without resorting to hostility, humiliation or violence
- Encourage your child to do his or her best rather than focus on the outcome of the competition
- Never ridicule or yell at your child for making a mistake or losing a match
- Never sit beside the referee during your child’s match
- Never criticize, abuse or ridicule the decisions of the referee – not ever and especially if the referee is a child
- Respect and show appreciation for the volunteers who give their time for the betterment of squash
- Never harass players, coaches, officials or other spectators
- Do not arrive at a squash tournament intoxicated in any manner or use inappropriate substances during games or at any time associated with team activity
- Understand that if you are in violation of any of the above, you will be asked to either leave the court area and/or the hosting venue
All squash coaches who are attending junior events will be asked to monitor behaviour both on and off the court and report bad behaviour to Squash Ontario in writing. The first report received will result in a strongly worded letter of reprimand. A second letter will result in Code of Conduct disciplinary action. We wish you as athletes every success on the courts this season. Play hard and play fair.
