Western Men & Queen's Women Keep OUA Streak Alive, Laurier Captures Division 2 Titles

With our regular season Jester University League play all wrapped up, we are please to announce our regular season winners were Western men and for the first time, McGill women, after a head to head battle against Queen’s women. To complete the University season, 8 of our participating schools travelled to White Oaks to participate in the OUA Championships February 9-11.

A pair of dynasties continue their reign with the Western Mustangs men’s team winning their 40th consecutive OUA Championship in dominant fashion. At the same time, the Queen’s Gaels made it nine years in a row as the women’s squash champions.

The Mustangs beat Queen’s in the men’s final by a 7-0 margin, capping off a weekend wherein they didn't drop a single game. The Gaels, meanwhile, reversed their fortunes in the women's finale, as they edged Waterloo by a score of 4-3 in a battle that saw all but two matches extend to four or five games.

In the bronze medal matches, it was Western’s women's team defeating McMaster, while on the men’s side, Toronto and Waterloo captured the bronze.

Jack Fairs Award - This award was created in honour of the late Jack Fairs, long-time coach of the University of Western Ontario squash team. Established in 2022 and presented annually to one male and female from the Jesters University League, the recipients of this award are extremely hard-working players who contribute the most to their team. Jack always stressed the importance of every match in the line up and believed the #7 match mattered just as much as the #1.
