NJC Withdrawal/Default info:
For all junior accredited tournaments, a player may withdraw without penalty before 12:00pm (noon) in the time zone of the tournament on the Monday prior to the start of the tournament. Any withdrawal after this deadline and before the start of a player’s first match is considered a late withdrawal. Any player who is registered for a tournament and does not show up to play is also considered a late withdrawal. Injuries proven by a doctor’s note or bereavement is the only way to waive any penalties.
Players are expected to arrive at each tournament with the intention of playing and completing all scheduled matches. Defaulting from an event is a violation of Squash Canada’s Competition Manipulation Policy and a Code of Conduct Policy issue. Any player deemed to have needlessly defaulted out of a tournament will receive a mid-tournament default ranking penalty. The penalty will be a zero-point tournament being added to the player’s record. The zero-point tournament counts as a tournament exposure and will be treated like any other tournament with regards to rankings.
The request must be submitted by emailing info@squash.ca.
Penalties for late withdrawals can be found in the document linked below.
Full NJC guidelines can be found here.

NJC DRAWS
All move up requests must be sent to tournaments@squashontario.com PRIOR to the deadline to be considered.
Draw Format: For divisions where a draw is required, the top 2 seeded players will be placed in the proper positions at the top and bottom of the draw. Positions for the 5-8 seeded players will be drawn at random, as well and the 3rd and 4th seeded players. For draws with more than 16 players, players seeded 9-12 will also be drawn, with remaining players placed at random. This process will be witnessed.
In the event of seeded players having ratings within .05 at the time of the deadline, Squash Ontario will use the NJC rankings as the decider. Squash Ontario reserves the right to move any same club match ups in the first round, without affecting the placed seeded players. The lower rated player will be switched with the next closest rated player from a different club to keep the integrity of the draw.
Club Official Certification Requirement for U19, U17, and U15 Players
The sport of squash requires an active role in refereeing. In order to support an athlete's knowledge and confidence with their refereeing, Squash Ontario first mandated the requirement for the minimum of the Club Official Certification in 2018 and it is being re-introduced again in 2025. As such, all athletes competing in the U19, U17 and U15 age categories are required to complete the Club Official Certification . Note, this is already a requirement to play in and National event. Parents are encouraged to take the course with their athletes to improve their spectating experience and younger juniors are also welcome to participate if they would like to.
This is a one-time $35.00 course and exam available at The Coach Locker. After signing in, click on ELearning, scroll down to Squash on the left-hand side of the screen, and click "Online Referee Certification".
The deadline to complete this requirement will be the same as the tournament registration deadline. Athletes in the U19/U17 categories not meeting this requirement will be ineligible to compete in upcoming events without refund.
Referee Upgrading and Employment Opportunities for Junior Athletes
In an effort to build our provincial officiating capacity, Squash Ontario will support interested athletes to receive Referee Assessments at tournaments. Two successfully completed referee assessments will take a certified referee from the "Club" level to the "Local" level. Once the Local status is achieved, these referees will be invited to referee at tournaments with honorariums provided. This is a great opportunity for junior athletes to get work experience and contribute to the overall success of the squash community. Please reach out to any of the Squash Ontario staff to confirm interest in receiving a referee assessment.
