This past weekend we saw the first Ontario Open Championship take place since 2019, three years off due to the world wide pandemic. Players and spectators were treated to a true Men’s Open with both semi-finals being an Ontario-Quebec standoff, and a fun Women’s Open with vets of the game against top junior athletes. It was great to be back!
Western & Queens Keep OUA Streak Alive While Laurier & University of Ottawa Capture Division 2 Titles
It was a jam-packed weekend of top notch squash at the OUA and Jesters University League Championships at White Oaks, hosted by Brock University in Niagara. History was once again made by Western University Men whose coach Chris Hanebury kept Hall of Famer Jack Fairs’ legacy intact by winning their 38th straight OUA championships – the longest such streak in North American sports. They defeated a very strong University of Toronto led by male Coach of the Year John Lennard and league MVP Mike McCue.

All proceeds from this event will go towards our 2022-2023 sport development initiatives. Looking forward to seeing the squash fraternity on the golf course this summer!
