This past weekend, Pickering Squash Club played host to a special double-header on the Squash Ontario calendar: the Lee Hanebury Memorial Tournament alongside the Ontario Women’s Veterans Doubles Championships.
The Ontario Women’s Veterans Doubles Championships took centre stage, showcasing the depth, skill, and competitive spirit of women’s squash in Ontario. The event highlighted not only excellent on-court performances, but also the strong community that continues to grow within women’s veterans squash — a space where competition and camaraderie go hand in hand.
Running alongside the championships was the Lee Hanebury Memorial Tournament, an annual event held in memory of Lee Hanebury and his lasting impact on the squash community. Featuring a full slate of singles and doubles divisions, the tournament brought together players of all levels and served as a reminder of the role squash plays in building lifelong friendships and shared experiences.
Squash Ontario would like to thank Pickering Squash Club, tournament chair Nicole Pirko, the volunteers, officials, and all participants who made the weekend such a success — not to mention the excellent hospitality that kept players fueled throughout the event.
Congratulations to all competitors, and a special shoutout to our Women’s Veterans champions for an inspiring weekend of squash.
