To close out the university squash season, eight participating schools traveled to White Oaks for the OUA Championships from February 6-8. With an energetic crowd behind them, the Western Mustangs men’s and women’s teams captured OUA gold, asserting their dominance on the court. Continuing from last year, Western Women defended their OUA title with a decisive 6-1 victory over Queen’s in the final. In the 3rd place playoff, The University of Toronto claimed bronze with a 5-2 win over Waterloo.
On the men’s side, Western extended its historic streak, winning their 42nd consecutive OUA title. The Mustangs were unstoppable throughout the tournament, finishing off with a 7-0 sweep over Toronto in the final. In the bronze medal match, Queen’s won 4-3 against Waterloo.
Jesters League
Reflecting their end of season titles, both the Western men and women won the 2025-26 Jesters league securing the Bert Keene Trophy and Anne Smith Trophy. With 8-0 and 9-0 records respectfully, the Western men and women executed a perfect season going undefeated in and winning both the Jesters League and OUA Championships.
The Jesters University Squash League provides a competitive platform for squash players attending Ontario universities to compete across the province. A total of 10 teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions participate in a series of events, including two one-day Sectionals and two two-day Crossover events, ensuring an exciting and dynamic season of play.
As always, a big thank you to the Jesters of Ontario who continue to support this amazing league year after year.
Jack Fairs Award
This award was created in honour of the late Jack Fairs, long-time coach of the University of Western Ontario squash team. Established in 2022 and presented annually to one male and female from the Jesters University League, the recipients of this award are extremely hard-working players who contribute the most to their team. Jack always stressed the importance of every match in the line up and believed the #7 match mattered just as much as the #1. The recipient of this award is someone who plays hard fought battles that help improve their team's standing, no matter their spot on the team ladder.
