Women’s Open - Ben Hatcher (Tournament Chair), Niki Shemirani (Silver), Hollie Naughton (Champion), Sasha Lee (Bronze
This past weekend, the 2026 Ontario Open Championships, presented by NFP Canada, brought the 2025-2026 senior and masters provincial squash season to a close at Mayfair Lakeshore. With 176 players competing across a full slate of divisions, it was a packed few days of matches, familiar faces, and plenty of new ones.
From Friday’s opening matches through to the final rallies, the courts stayed busy and the level of play didn’t let up. Across every draw, there was a real mix of intensity, close battles, and moments that reminded you why people keep coming back to compete year after year.
A weekend like this doesn’t come together on its own. There are a lot of moving pieces, and a lot of people behind the scenes making sure everything runs the way it should.
A big thank you to Tournament Chair Ben Hatcher and the Mayfair Lakeshore volunteers for leading the event and keeping everything on track, and to the team of referees led by Tournament Referee Mikola Czich for managing a busy schedule and keeping matches running smoothly.
We’re also grateful to our presenting sponsor, NFP Canada, and Shiraz Mohideen for their continued support. Events like this simply don’t happen without partners who believe in what we’re building.
Jon Schofield (Jonny Yuma Photography) was on site all weekend capturing the moments players don’t always get to see themselves — and giving many the chance to walk away with some incredible photos.
Thank you as well to the team at Mayfair Lakeshore for hosting and supporting the event from start to finish.
And of course, to the Squash Ontario team — Lynsey Yates, Tania Kumar, William Kuhn, Tracy Gardner, Niki Aron, and Dan Van Moorsel — for everything that goes into making a weekend like this happen, much of which takes place long before the first match is played.
Finally, to the players — whether you were competing for a title, playing your first Ontario Open, refereeing a match, or supporting from the sidelines — you’re what makes these events worth it.
The Ontario Open has a way of wrapping things up on a high note, and this year was no different.
We’ll see you back on court soon!
A link to the professional photos captured throughout the weekend will be available soon—stay tuned!
