Squash Ontario is excited to celebrate a growing partnership with the City of Vaughan's Recreation Services department that is helping more people discover, play and enjoy squash across one of Ontario's most active communities.
The collaboration combines Vaughan's high-quality recreation facilities with Squash Ontario's provincial expertise. Together, the organizations are creating more opportunities for players to learn the game, sharpen their skills and connect with the wider squash community.
Building momentum
The partnership is already delivering results. The Recreation Services team in Vaughan recently launched its first citywide summer squash league, creating meaningful match play opportunities across advanced and expert divisions, showcasing the best on best across multiple community and Vaughan Fitness centres. Players can now track results and rankings through Club Locker, adding an extra layer of excitement, competition and connection to every match.
There is plenty more on the horizon. Upcoming National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certifying opportunities will help local coaches by formalizing their expertise, while new coaching courses supported through Squash Ontario will strengthen the squash ecosystem in the city.
One partnership, many opportunities to play
The Recreation Services team has also invested in squash cannons to support one-on-one training and skill development. Combined with Learn to Play programming that uses Squash Canada's CANSquash framework, players of all ages can build confidence one rally at a time. Vaughan Fitness members can access squash courts and lessons through their membership. New players are welcome, whether they are picking up a racquet for the first time or dusting off skills from years ago.
