The 2025 Ontario Championships (West) Presented by CGG Squash kicked off the provincial squash season with an action-packed weekend of high-level competition and community spirit. Hosted at Mayfair Lakeshore from October 24–26, the event brought together players from across Ontario (and beyond) for a strong start to the new season.
This year’s event introduced an exciting new format — the Tiered Draws — designed to ensure balanced, competitive play for all skill levels. For the first time, A–E level players registered in one draw for their gender and were divided into tiers of eight based on their Squash Ontario rating. The result? More evenly matched games, closer battles, and a great experience for everyone on court. Alongside the new format, the Women’s Open division featured a share of $5,000 in total prize money between the Men’s and Women’s Open events, giving top provincial players the opportunity to compete for cash and ranking points.
Players enjoyed three guaranteed matches, a tournament souvenir top, and a shared meal, with plenty of time to connect, cheer, and celebrate the return of the competitive season. The atmosphere at Mayfair Lakeshore was lively and welcoming throughout, thanks to Head Pro Ben Hatcher and the club’s outstanding staff and volunteers. A huge thank-you goes out to our presenting sponsor, CGG Squash for their generous support, and to all the participants who helped make the 2025 Ontario Championships (West) a success.
Next up, the Men’s Open heads to Ottawa from November 1–November 2, as the second half of this championship series continues the excitement!
