Strong Showing from Ontario Athletes at 2025 Pan American Junior Championships

It was a strong showing for Canada’s junior athletes—particularly those from Squash Ontario—at the 2025 Pan American Junior Championships, held June 29 to July 5 in Santiago, Chile. Competing against top athletes from across the Americas, Canada brought home two medals in the team events: a silver for the junior women and a bronze for the junior men.

The Canadian women’s team, featuring Squash Ontario standouts Sasha Lee (Ontario), Aneesa Tejani (Ontario) and Zoe Chong (Ontario)—along with Veera Dhaliwal—went undefeated in the round robin stage, defeating Mexico (3–0), Brazil (2–1), and host Chile (3–0) to advance to the playoffs. In the semi-finals, Team Canada overcame Peru (2–1) to reach the gold medal match, where they ultimately fell to the United States (0–2), claiming a hard-fought silver medal.

“Representing Canada at the Pan Am games was such an honour, and getting to stand on the podium with my teammates made it even more special. It was an experience I’ll never forget,” said Aneesa Tejani, Squash Ontario athlete.

There were also several impressive individual results from Squash Ontario athletes:

  • Sasha Lee reached the Top 8 in the Women’s Singles Main Draw.

  • Aneesa Tejani and Zoe Chong reached the semifinals of the Women’s Singles Companion Event, both finishing [3/4].

The team was guided by experienced coaches Giselle Delgado and Andrew Lynn, whose leadership contributed significantly to the athletes’ development and success.

“What an amazing week we had in Santiago! Against extremely tough competition, our young team exceeded expectations, with many finishing ahead of their seeding in the individual as well as in the team competitions,” said Delgado and Lynn. “Canada can be proud of our incredible athletes, who played hard while also displaying great sportsmanship. We return to Canada with medals, but more importantly, great memories and new friends.”

Squash Canada and Squash Ontario congratulate all the athletes and coaches for their outstanding performances and for proudly representing Canada and their provinces on the international stage. Full results from the event are available here: Doubles, Singles, and Team.
